Seven drug suspects nabbed, P2.5 M worth of marijuana destroyed in weeklong campaign

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Seven drug personalities were arrested and P2,506,000 worth of marijuana plants were destroyed during a weeklong operation conducted from July 31 to August 6 in Cordillera Region.

Based on the records of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera’s Regional Operations Division (ROD), Baguio City Police Office had the most arrests made with six, followed by Apayao PPO with one arrested drug personality.

Those arrested by the BCPO were identified as Marivic Rodriguez, 61; Cherry Alsim, 37; Carlito Javier, 43; Joel Sales, 37; Margie Maaba, 44; and Carie Maaba, 42.

In Apayao, the arrested personality was identified as Claridel Mangligot, 42.

The series of anti-illegal drug operations conducted resulted in the seizure of a total of 18.4 grams of shabu with an estimated price of P125,120.

All arrested suspects are now facing charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In the campaign to eradicate marijuana, a total of 12,000 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) with an SDP of P2,400,000 in Kalinga had been destroyed.

In another operation in Benguet, a total of 480 FGMJP with an SDP of P96,000 and 250 marijuana seedlings with an SDP of P10,000.00 were destroyed by operatives.
