EPD gets 4 awards for exemplary police service

The Eastern Police District (EPD) received four awards in recognition of its exemplary achievements and service during a ceremony held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, in line with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO)’s celebration of the 121st Police Service Anniversary.

Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) gathered at the Hinirang Hall Multi-Purpose Hall in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City to honor the efforts of their fellow police men and women in their respective fields.

Former EPD Officer-in-Charge and District Director, Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis, and members of the EPD Command Group attended the event.

For the unit categories, the EPD was hailed as the Top Performer in the Unit Evaluation Rating, and the EPD's District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB) was awarded as the Best DMFB among the NCR police forces.

Two women police personnel from the EPD also received specialized awards during the ceremony.

Senior Master Sgt. Vanessa David, the chief clerk of the Station Community Affairs and Development Section (SCADS) of the Marikina City Police Station (CPS) was awarded as the Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) for Administration.

The award for the Best Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP) at the supervisory level was given to Josephine Cordel, the NUP supervisor of the EPD.

“These achievements of EPD truly manifest utmost concern and dedication to police service with high sense of integrity which serve as an inspiration to other members of the EPD and to the whole PNP organization,” the EPD said in a statement.

Aside from David and Cordel, eight other individuals from police stations in the NCR received awards for various categories.

Other awardees in the unit categories are:

  • "Best Police District" - Southern Police District (SPD)
  • "Best City Police Station" - Muntinlupa City Police Station (CPS)
  • "Best Numbered Police Station" - Batasan Police Station
  • "Best Mobile Force Company" - 6th Mobile Force Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)
  • "Best Regional Administrative Support Unit" and "Best Regional Operations Support Unit"- Regional Communications and Electronics Unit (RCEU)-NCR

For special unit awards, the winners are:

  • "Most Number of Firearms Confiscated" and "Most Number of Arrested Wanted Persons" - Manila Police District (MPD)
  • "Best on Anti-illegal Drugs Operations" - Southern Police District (SPD)
  • "Anti-illegal Gambling Operations" - Northern Police District (NPD)
  • "Covid-19 Shield" - Quezon City Police District (QCPD)

On Monday, Aug. 8, the PNP commemorated the founding of the country's first insular police force, or the former Philippine Constabulary.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. was guest of honor at the 121st Police Service Anniversary on Monday held at Camp Brigadier General Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City.
