DepEd reaches almost 70% of target enrollment for SY 2022-2023 with 19.26M enrollees

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday, Aug. 11 announced that it reached almost 70 percent of its target enrollment for the incoming school year with 19.26 million enrollees.

Citing its latest data, DepEd said that the total number of enrollees from public and private schools as well as in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)/Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) that offer basic education is 19, 263, 425.

The updated enrollment data, DepEd said, is already 69.89 percent of the 27.5 million learners recorded in the enrollment of SY 2021-2022 and is near the target of 28.6 million for this SY.

Of the 19.26 million enrollees, DepEd data showed that 16,943, 745 are learners from public schools; 2, 254, 875 are from private schools, and 64, 801 are from SUCs/LUCs.

Related to this, DepEd has encouraged parents and guardians to enroll their children for the incoming school year as early as possible.

As part of the school opening preparations, DepEd and its partner agencies from the public and private sectors and other stakeholders will also launch the Public Assistance Command Center (PACC) on Aug. 15 to manage the public’s concerns and issues regarding the opening of classes.

The enrollment in public schools started on July 25 and will end on the first day of classes on Aug. 22.
