Rep. Quimbo breaks ground for new high school building

Marikina City District 2 Congresswoman Stella Quimbo led the blessing and groundbreaking ceremony for Nangka High School's new five-storey school building on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Quimbo was joined by Randy G. Leal, barangay captain of Nangka, other members of the barangay council, and the administrative body of the high school.

The building will house 30 classrooms, inclusive of the laboratories, that will adequately accommodate many students for the school years to come.

As part of Quimbo's "transformative development" plans, it aims to create long-term infrastructure projects such as learning spaces that will benefit the next generations of Marikenyos.

Added facilities such as this will be able to improve the quality of education in the schools, and ensure a clean and orderly learning environment for students.

The ceremony was in line with the Brigada Eskwela activities of Nangka High School in preparation for the resumption of face-to-face classes on Aug. 22.

From Aug. 1 to Aug. 8, school constituents and volunteers from various government and non-government affiliated groups conducted clearing and cleaning operations in the school's classrooms, faculty rooms, laboratories, library, and other facilities.

Volunteers from the Marikina Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) led the flushing operations of the school areas and grounds.

The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Marikina monitored and evaluated the status and condition of the school.

The school also had the assistance of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) in inspecting their electric power lines.

Quimbo visited other schools in District 2 for the Brigada Eskwela preparations.

Her team provided donations such as alcohol and other cleaning agents and materials to help replenish the schools' stocks to fully implement the minimum public health and safety protocols.
