Police Capt. Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, identified the victim as Alex Soberano, 51, of Barangay Tangub here.

Bonilla said that Soberano was reported missing by his family on July 26, four days after he was reportedly abducted by unidentified men at the airport in Silay City on July 22.

Bonilla said that Soberano’s child was supposed to fetch his father at the airport on July 22, when he saw him being forcibly dragged to a van.

Bonilla said that his child tried to chase the van but he failed to catch up with them.

Nine days later, Soberano’s decomposing body was found after a farmer, who was supposed to get his carabao in the area, noticed a foul odor.

Soberano was naked and buried three feet below the ground when barangay personnel dug up, Bonilla said.

Bonilla said they could not yet establish the motive of the killing.

But, they do not discount the possibility that it could be drug-related since Soberano was released from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City due to a drug offense eight months ago, Bonilla said.
