2 ladies from Borongan City, Tacloban City cited for winning 2 major crowns in Binibining Pilipinas

TACLOBAN CITY – Pageant fans and local officials in Eastern Visayas celebrated as two Waraynons were crowned in the grand coronation night of the 58th Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant in Quezon City Monday, August 1.

Gabrielle Camille Basiano of Borongan City, Eastern Samar was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2022 while Chelsea Fernandez from this city was named Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2022.

"Congratulations Gabrielle! Eastern Samareños are so proud of you," wrote Eastern Samar Rep. Ma. Fe Abunda.

Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda thanked Basiano for not only representing the city but for also doing a great job in showcasing the rich culture, beauty, and wit of Boronganons in the national pageantry.

"I hope this will inspire our community, especially our talented youth, to hold fast to their goals, work for them, and strive until they reach the peak of their dreams," he said.

The Borongan mayor said they are excited to welcome her back to Borongan City with a celebration fit for a queen.

"Like Ms. Basiano, no dream is impossible as long you dedicate your life to it. We wish her all the best and I am sure that this win will open a lot of opportunities for Ms. Basiano as she competes on the international stage – this time proudly waving the Philippine flag."

Basiano was crowned on her second try in the pageant. She is also this year's Binibining Pilipinas Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown.

She was first runnerup and Best in Long Gown in last year's edtion.

Fernandez won a special award, Miss Ever Bilena.

Both pageant veterans are alumnae of Asian Development Foundation College here. They will represent the country in the international pageant scene in the coming months.
