Metro Manila's Covid-19 positivity rate jumps to over 10%---OCTA


The Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila has increased to more than 10 percent, the OCTA Research Group said on Saturday, July 9.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David posted on his official Twitter page that Metro Manila had a positivity rate of 10.4 percent on July 7 as compared to the previous figure of 8.3 percent last July 2.

Eight areas also had positivity rates above 10 percent: Antique (18.9 percent), Batangas (10.5 percent), Capiz (17.8 percent), Cavite (16.2 percent), Iloilo (10.9 percent), Laguna (16.2 percent), Pampanga (16.1 percent), and Rizal (15.7 percent).

To note, positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for Covid-19.

Based on the Department of Health's (DOH) dashboard, a total of 12,528 individuals are still sick with Covid-19 nationwide as of July 8.

There were 1,712 new coronavirus cases recorded on Friday.

Since the pandemic started, a total of 3,714,770 people contracted Covid-19, of which, 3,641,603 individuals have recovered while 60,639 people died.
