Gilas Pilipinas ran into the great wall as China stamped its class on the Filipinos, 21-11, in Pool C of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on Saturday, July 9.

The Chinese players were just too big and too strong for the much smaller Filipinos as they simply had their way both on the offense and defensive end to take the victory with still 1:36 to spare in the clock.
Gilas did its best to compete but China's length obviously bothered the Filipinos who just couldn’t keep their offense going. Lervin Flores topped the Filipinos with four points while Joseph Eriobu and Almond Vosotros, who led the way for Gilas in the qualifying draw, settled with three and two points only.
China, on the other hand, was spearheaded by Zeyi Liyu’s nine points while Jiaren Zhao and Jiayi Zhao added six and five, respectively.
Despite the loss, Gilas, which finished with a 1-1 record, still advanced to the quarterfinals after China defeated Singapore 22-13 earlier in the day. The Filipinos will face Pool A top seed Mongolia in the crossover quarterfinals on Sunday, July 10 at 3:25 pm.
Mongolia earlier defeated Korea, 19-12, and India 22-12 to advance to the quarterfinals.
