The project passes through the “Seven Cities” – seven barangays in Alimodian where organic farm produce is abundant.
“This concrete road offers vital road contribution towards economic development and growth in the highlands of Alimodian and neighboring towns as it facilitates hastened delivery of vegetables and other agricultural products,” said DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan.
Built by the DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office, the project had two sections. The first section consists of a 740-lineal meter portland concrete cement pavement (PCCP) while the second section is A 618-lineal meter PCCP and 60-meter pre-stressed concrete girder bridge.
According to newly installed DPWH-Region 6 Director Nerie Bueno, the project will benefit both farmers and visitors.
The bridge is also seen to boost tourism development in the central part of Iloilo as it can also be passed to visit Bucari, a highland area in neighboring Leon town known as the “Little Baguio of Iloilo.”
