PH, US armies gear up for joint capability training in Hawaii

The Philippine Army (PA) has been preparing with their counterparts from the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) for the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Capability (JPMRC) training that will take place in Hawaii in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Col. Xerxes Trinidad, PA spokesperson, said a research skills development and doctrine writing workshop was conducted by the PA’s Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Education and Training (G8) in Tagaytay City from July 5 to 7 to further hone the skills of the Army delegation joining the JPMRC.

“The three-day activity further molded the data-gathering, results presentation, technical writing skills of the Army delegation tasked in the development of combined arms training, opposing forces, observer-controller and trainer manuals,” Trinidad said on Friday, July 8.

Doctrine writing experts from the PA and USARPAC participated in the activity and provided insights and advice to the JPMRC delegates.

The training was part of the PA’s preparations for the JPMRC which will take place in Hawaii from Oct. 15 to Nov. 16.

The JPMRC is a multilateral training geared at enhancing unit readiness, interoperability, and warfighting systems of participating forces amid the challenging jungle environments in the Indo-Pacific region.

“JPMRC is a new approach that allows leaders to train soldiers to live, operate, and fight in the Indo-Pacific region’s austere, rugged and diverse environments as part of joint teams and multinational coalitions,” said General Charles Flynn, commanding general of USARPAC.

Meanwhile, Col. Emmanuel Cabasan, PA’s deputy G8, reminded the Army delegation of their crucial role in the development of doctrines that will underpin the creation of the PA’s combat readiness training areas.
