Marcos to undergo 7-day isolation after testing positive for Covid-19—DOH

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. needs to undergo isolation for a period of seven days after he tested positive for Covid-19, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

Marcos tested positive in an antigen test for Covid-19, said Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles during a public briefing on Friday, July 8. She said that the President is experiencing a slight fever.

“The President will be isolated for seven days from the time that he was tested positive,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire during the same briefing.

“After that, if his symptoms have been resolved already, he may be able to go back to work and have his face to face activities,” she added.

Vergeire said there is no need for Marcos to get tested using an RT-PCR test for Covid-19.

“Based on our protocol, if a person is symptomatic the antigen test will be accurate already. So we are just going to monitor the President,” she said.

“But of course, the President would have that prerogative if his doctor would advise him to take his RT-PCR. But nonetheless, the antigen test is already enough to state that he’s positive for the disease and he has mild symptoms,” she added.
