LOOK: Official poster, trailer of 'Darna' launched

JRB Creative Production has finally given a glimpse of what viewers could expect in the upcoming Philippine superhero television series based on the comic book character of the same name, "Darna."

On Facebook, JRB Creative Production unveiled its poster on July 6.

"Masisilayan mo na siya! 07.07.22 #Darna #DarnaTrailer," the caption read.

In the said poster designed by Justin Beasna, Darna is seen surrounded by debris seemingly flying upwards with her fist towards the sky.

The said superhero is partly masked in the center of the collapsed building which forms the shape of Darna’s distinct winged emblem, which is also the logo of the series.

A snake is also seen slithering in the foreground.

A jeepney and a tricycle were also featured.

Meanwhile, the following day, the official trailer was released.

There, lead cast members Jane de Leon, Iza Calzado, Janella Salvador, Joshua Garcia, and Zaijian Jaranilla had their fair share of scenes.

Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Chito S. Roño with director Avel Sunpongco, “Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series” will start airing this August.

It was in 2014 when Angel Locsin was announced to star in a “Darna” flick to be directed by Erik Matti.

A lot has changed since with Angel and Erik dropping out of the project.

The iconic role was then transferred to Liza Soberano who also backed out of the project eventually.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, it was announced that the film will no longer push through.

ABS-CBN later revealed that “Darna” will be airing as TV series.

But then-new director Jerrold Tarog has confirmed that he’s no longer involved in the said project.
