Bohol man nabbed for possession of ingredients used in making dynamite
A man who was supposed to receive social pension got arrested instead after authorities found out he was allegedly storing illegal substances used in making dynamite in Tubigon, Bohol on Thursday, July 7.

Local government officials of Tubigon town were distributing social pension to indigent senior citizens in Mocaboc Island when elements of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine National Police who were providing security to them discovered a storage of illegal substances in the house of one Lemuel Batuasa.
It turns out that Batuasa was being monitored by the local police for possessing illegal substances used in making dynamite.
According to PCG, confiscated from Batuasa’s house were 72 kilos of ammonium nitrate stored in transparent plastic cellophanes; a homemade dynamite; plastic containers; a weighing scale; 234 pieces of improvised time fuse with blasting caps; a roll time fuse; one sack of ammonium nitrate; and six empty sacks of ammonium nitrate.

The illegal substances were found by the coast guardians and cops “in plain sight” inside Batuasa’s house, ⁹the PCG said.
“The PCG and PNP turned over the confiscated items to the Bohol Provincial Explosive Canine Unit (BPECU) and the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit (BPFU) for laboratory examination and proper disposition,” the PCG noted.
Dynamite fishing is prohibited by the authorities since it is a destructive fishing practice. Through dynamite fishing, explosives are used to stun or kill schools of fish for easy collection.
This results to extreme destruction of the marine ecosystem since it also affects the natural habitat that supports the fish.
