Ex-Momoland’s Daisy says she was fired from group

Daisy, a former member of Momoland, revealed that she was fired from the K-pop girl group.

In a TikTok video, Daisy replied to a comment by a fan.

"Guys, for the love of God, I did not leave. I was fired. Fired! Okay? Okay," she said.

According to Daisy, "It's been so long, oh my God. It’s great, okay? It is all good. It is A-OK. ‘Cause I don’t know either. That is why I don’t know. Like if I knew, I would probably unfired myself so...”

“I don’t know if you can get fired from that. You know what? I didn’t know either,” she added with a laugh.

Daisy was with Momoland when the group held a fan meeting in Manila on Jan. 25, 2019 at the Araneta Coliseum.

On Feb. 14, 2019, a Korean media outlet published a story that Daisy and iKON’s Yunhyeong were in a relationship.

The following month, Daisy and Taeha were not included in Momoland’s “Show Me” album that was released on March 20.

In November 2019, MLD Entertainment, Momoland’s agency, said they were in talks with her.

In January 2020, she revealed in an interview with KBS channel that she asked MLD Entertainment to terminate her exclusive contract but the agency demanded one billion won ($768,000) as penalty fee.

In October 2021, Daisy won a lawsuit she filed against MLD Entertainment.

Tthe Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Daisy and ordered MLD Entertainment to pay her 79.26 million won ($61,000).

The case stemmed from the audition program “Finding Momoland,” which aired on Mnet in July 2016 to select the members of Momoland.

Daisy was not selected during the program but was later recruited by MLD Entertainment. She signed a contract with the agency in September 2016 and became a new member of Momoland.

As a result, MLD Entertainment deducted 66 million won ($50,681) from Daisy’s earnings, which was equivalent to 10 percent of the 660 million won ($506,810) production cost of “Finding Momoland.”

Daisy’s side protested this, saying it was unreasonable that the program’s production cost spent since April 2016 should be deducted from Daisy’s earnings since she signed the contract with MLD Entertainment only in September 2016, or five months after.

Daisy sued MLD Entertainment to recover the cost and won.

In addition, the court ordered MLD Entertainment to pay Daisy an additional 13 million won ($9,987).
