Tirso Cruz III's appointment as national film chair is 'correct' --- Angeles
Malacañang has asserted that the designation of veteran actor Tirso Cruz III as the new chairperson and chief executive of Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is correct.

This was clarified by Communications Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles on Wednesday, July 6, after Cruz was sworn in by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, July 5.
It was brought up in a press briefing due to the appointment of Liza Diño-Seguerra to remain as the FDCP chair in March 2022, which extends her term.
Angeles stressed that the case of Diño-Seguerra falls under the Memorandum Circular No. 1 which declared certain positions in the Executive Department vacant.
"I think she would fall under MC1. And therefore the appointment (of Cruz) is correct," Angeles said.
Under the memorandum, all Presidential appointees who are coterminous, all Presidential appointees occupying positions created over the authorized staffing pattern, all non-Career Executive Service Officials (CESO) occupying Career Executive Service (CES) positions
Contractual and casual employees are deemed separated from service.
Cruz was among the new batch of officials who took their oath of office on Tuesday at the Malacañang Palace.
The FDCP is the national film agency under the Office of the President responsible for film policies and programs to ensure the economic, cultural, and educational development of the Philippine film industry.
