Police neutralize 2 robbers in Maguindanao gunfight

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao (PNA) – Police neutralized two suspected robbers during a shootout in Barangay Awang here Tuesday, July 5.

Police Lt. Col. Erwin Tabora, municipal police chief, identified the fatalities as Jonathan Solaiman and Miguel Villador, both of Barangay Labungan, this town.

Tabora said police manning a checkpoint flagged down the duo riding a motorbike at about 10 p.m.

“However, they sped away and police chased them until Barangay Crossing Awang. Instead of pulling over, the two traded shots with the police,” he said.

Tabora said the two were linked to a series of street robberies that victimized civilians at the viewing deck of a lovers’ lane in Barangay Awang.

An hour earlier, he said, civilians in the area complained about being robbed by two persons, prompting the police to put up checkpoints.

Seized from the slain suspects were two handguns and identification cards.
