PH Red Cross responds to 559 motorcycle accidents in the first half of 2022

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) assisted 559 motorcycle riders who figured in accidents across the country in the first half of 2022.

This was based on PRC's data as of Tuesday, July 5. Eighteen percent or 98 accidents happened in Metro Manila.

A total of 437 patients were transported to medical facilities and 110 were treated by PRC emergency medical technicians.

As per PRC, the EMS has responded to 4,150 incidents involving 8,759 patients in the first semester of the year.

"2,234 of these patients needed transport provided by PRC ambulances. 75% or 1,646 availed of the ambulance service for free," PRC added.

The humanitarian organization said that one of its advocacies is the safety of motorcycle riders.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon also reminded motorcycle riders to be extra careful on the road, especially during the rainy season.

“Ang Red Cross ay laging nakatuon sa pag-modernize ng EMS para makapagsilbi sa ating mga kababayan sa kanilang medical emergency (Red Cross is always keen on modernisizing the EMS to assist our countrymen in their medical emergecy needs),” Gordon added.
