Pateros mayor urges residents to wear face masks; get vaxxed amid rising Covid-19 cases

Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III reminded the public to wear face masks and get vaccinated amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila.

In a live broadcast on July 5, Ponce said Pateros, which is the smallest local government unit (LGU) in the National Capital Region, has eight active Covid-19 cases.

“Kaya’t ang lahat po ay patuloy nating pinapakiusapan na sundin ang minimum health standard lalong-lalo na po yung pagsusuot o tamang pagsusuot ng face mask upang tayo ay makaiwas pa rin sa hawaan ng Covid-19 (That is why I continue to request to follow minimum health standard especially the wearing or proper wearing of face mask in order for us to avoid infections of Covid-19),” he said.

He added, “Nagkakaroon talaga ng pagtaas hindi lamang po dito sa ating bayan kundi sa buong Metro Manila at sa buong bansang Pilipinas (There is really an increase not only in our town but in the whole Metro Manila and in the whole Philippines).”

Based on the Department of Health’s Covid-19 Tracker, as of July 5, Pateros has 19 active Covid-19 cases with zero new cases. LGUs and the DOH have different data on Covid-19 cases.

Ponce said people should take care in order to prevent going back to the time when there were lockdowns and restrictions in going out of homes and going to offices.

He urged people 18 years old and above to get their first and second booster shots, and minors aged 12 to 17 to receive their first booster shot.
