A total of 15,176,466 million individuals have already availed their first booster shot against Covid-19, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
The figure represents 19.43 percent of those who are eligible to receive the booster shot, the DOH said.
The country's booster uptake remains low as "all regions report less than 50 percent booster coverages," the DOH said.
Metro Manila has the highest booster coverage as it already boosted 4,274,089 individuals or 43.25 percent of its target population, as shown in the DOH data.
It was followed by Cordillera Administrative Region (25.05 percent), Central Luzon with (24.32 percent), Ilocos Region (23.05 percent), and Calabarzon with (22.06 percent).
The regions with less than 20 percent booster coverage were Cagayan Valley (18.80 percent), Northern Mindanao (13.85 percent), Western Visayas (13.52 percent), Davao Region (13.21 percent), Zamboanga Peninsula (13 percent), Central Visayas (12.94 percent), Caraga (11.42 percent), and Mimaropa (10.01 percent).
Also, the regions with below 10 percent booster coverage were Eastern Visayas (9.49 percent), Bicol Region (9.44 percent), Soccksargen (8.85 percent), and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (4.91 percent).
Meanwhile, the DOH said 880,329 Filipinos have already received their second booster shots.
Since the Covid-19 vaccination started in March 2021, a total of 70,825,672 Filipinos have already been fully-vaccinated or those who completed the two-dose primary vaccination series.
Based on current protocols, Filipinos aged five-years-old and above are allowed to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Individuals aged 12 and above are eligible to get their first booster shot. Meanwhile, the second booster shot can only be given to health workers, senior citizens, and immunocompromised adults.
