China vows to work with Marcos gov't 'in all areas' of partnership
China has expressed its commitment to work with the new Philippine government under the administration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. "in all areas of comprehensive, strategic partnership" as it commended the new chief executive's "friendly policy" towards the Chinese government.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Marcos' recent statements about China "has sent out a very positive signal to the outside world."
During his courtesy call on newly-installed Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) chief Enrique Manalo, Wang reiterated Marcos' pronouncement that "China is the strongest partner of the Philippines and he hopes to further deepen and build an even stronger relationship" with the latter.
Manalo also praised the Chinese government for being "a good friend and close partner of the Philippines in our recovery efforts."

"So we are ready to work towards that same direction with the Philippines, and to plan for our cooperation going forward in all areas of our comprehensive strategic partnership," Wang said as translated from Chinese.
Wang is in the Philippines as part of his visits to various Southeast Asian nations. He arrived in the country on Tuesday night before being scheduled to meet Manalo, to delve "extensively into Philippine-China relations, practical cooperation, and regional and international issues," his spokesman, Zhao Lijian, said.
Marcos, in a press conference on Tuesday, also confirmed that he would meet with the Chinese foreign minister "to strengthen ties" between the two countries.
Given the "uncertain, unstable and complex regional and international dynamics," Wang said, it is now even more important for China and the Philippines, "as two close neighbors, to join hands and further enhance mutual trust expand mutually beneficial cooperation."
Building a mutual trust will not only serve the common interest of the two countries, but it will also be their "important contribution to place stability of our region," he added.
"Given the time of the previous government under the correct specific guidance from the leaderships of our two countries, China-Philippine relations overcame all sorts of difficulties and achieved," he said.
