Azkals U19 absorb third straight loss, yield to Myanmar

The Philippine Azkals U19 absorbed its third straight loss after suffering a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Myanmar in the 2022 AFF U19 Youth Championship Wednesday, July 6, at the GBK Madya Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Myanmar dominated from the get-go and scored two consecutive goals in less than 10 minutes after the kickoff before the next half saw a goalless duel.

The Philippines, along with Brunei, has yet to secure a point in Group A while Myanmar earned six points.

Still leading the pack is Vietnam with seven points while Thailand and Indonesia had six and four points, respectively.

Swan Htet and Thein Zaw Thiha found the back at the net as early as the fourth and seventh minutes, respectively, to give the Myanmar side a 2-0 cushion.

Jaime Rosquillo gave a glimmer of hope for the Azkals after a 30th minute goal but that would be the lone goal for the Philippines.

Before half time, Zaw Win Thein provided another goal for Myanmar at the 42nd minute mark.

The young Azkals hope to get their first win when they take on Indonesia at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi.
