JV urges PBBM to reimplement ban on ‘wang-wang’

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito has called on President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. to revive the campaign against the abusive use of emergency vehicle sirens or “wang-wang”, pointing out there is already a law regarding its use.

Ejercito said a law on the use of emergency sirens was already passed during the term of his father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and which was decisively enforced during the time of the late President Benigno Aquino III.

“Sana ipagbawal ni PBBM mga naka-blinkers, wang-wang at may mga escorts na nakawangwang (I hope PBBM bans those using blinkers, sirens, and escorts who use sirens),” Ejercito said in a recent post on Twitter.

“As far as I know only the President, VP (vice president), Senate President, Speaker and SC Justice (who are) entitled to (a) motorcycle escort convoy,” he further said.

“Nagawa ito during PNoy’s time. Parang naging uso na naman (It was done during President Aquino’s time. It seems to be back),” the senator noted.

In an interview on Radio DZBB on Tuesday, Ejercito said he believes it is just a “matter of implementation.”

“Kaya nga sinabi ko sana ibalik ni PBBM (Marcos Jr.) yun dahil nagawa noong panahon ni PNoy yan. Kapag yan ay ipinag-utos ng Pangulo, magsalita lang siya niyang, that is policy already at lahat ay susunod (That’s why I hoped PBBM will revive it, because it was done during the time of PNoy. If the President orders it, that is already a policy, and everyone will follow),” he pointed out.
