Carino, Juan GDL bolster Marinerong Pilipino in D-League

Marinerong Pilipino gets a major boost with the addition of Kemark Carino and Juan Gomez De Llano to its lineup that will be bannered by a core of Mapua players in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup set to fire off on Thursday.

After a one-season stint in Japan's B.League, Carino and De Liano will be joining forces with NCAA Season 97 Most Improved Player Paolo Hernandez and the rest of the Cardinals who finished second in the men’s senior basketball tournament behind the Letran Knights.

Coming with Hernandez are Mapua teammates Arvin Gamboa, Brian Lacap, Rhenz Nocum and Warren Bonifacio, among others.

The Knights, meanwhile, will be once again led by Gilas Pilipinas stalwart Rhenz Abando along with Brent Paraiso, Fran Yu, Louie Sangalang and debuting transferee Ira Bataller as they play under the banner of Wangs Basketball@26 in the D-League.

Meanwhile, EcoOil - La Salle will be missing its key pieces in Deschon Winston, Evan Nelle and Mark Nonoy as they are still catching up with their academics following the conclusion of UAAP Season 84.

The Green Archers are now banking on Mythical Team member Michael Philips as La Salle parades eight rookies including Gilas standout Kevin Quiambao.

On the other hand, NAASCU champion Adalem Construction - St. Clare will be leaning on its rookie-MVP Johnsherick Estrada and foreign student-athlete Babacar Ndong to spearhead the campaign against the tough competition that also has the Sherwin Concepcion and Builders Warehouse UST, Rommel Calahat and the APEX Fuel - San Sebastian Recoletos. CEU Scorpions and AMA Online complete the eight-team field for the comeback season of the D-League after a two-year absence.
