Veteran solons better suited to talk about Chacha, says Sandro

When pressed for his thoughts on the push for Charter Change (Chacha) or constitutional reform early into the 19th Congress, Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos said he would rather leave it to more seasoned lawmakers.

Rep. Marcos, a first-time lawmaker, bared this to reporters in an ambush interview during the second batch of the House of Representatives "executive course on legislation" held Monday, July 4.

"Like I said, kailangan kong pag-aralan muna (I need to study it first). I don’t want to talk any legislative priorities for now," Rep. Marcos said.

"I think there are much better legal luminaries who are ready quite entrenched here in the House who would be much better suited to answer that question than me," he continued.

Chacha has become a bone of contention early into the 19th Congress after Pampanga 3rd district Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr. filed a Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) pushing for constitutional reform pertaining to term limits for the president, vice president, lawmakers, and local officials.

Rep. Marcos is the first from the family to represent Ilocos Norte's 1st legislative district.

His father, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.; and grandfather, the late Ferdinand Marcos Sr., have both represented Ilocos Norte's 2nd district.
