Sandro says he's a 'padrino' to nobody: 'Hindi ako nakikialam'

If you're planning to make Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos your "padrino" or backer, forget about it.

Rep. Marcos admitted on Monday, July 4 that a lot of individuals have been approaching him for "favors" especially now that his father is the president of the country.

He made this revelation when asked in a chance interview about his opinion on who the next House Majority Leader should be.

"Hindi ako nakikialam sa kahit anumang (I don't interfere in any of the) appointments especially in Congress but also in the executive," he said.

"Sa totoo lang andaming humihingi ng tulong at lagi kong sinasabi hindi ako nakikialam sa ganun (The truth is, a lot of people have been asking for help and I always tell them that I don't interfere in those things)," the 28-year-old rookie solon said.

Rep. Marcos is the eldest son of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

He said that his main goal in the House of Representatives is to legislate, and not to facilitate in the appointment of people who want to bag plum posts in government.

"I am here as a congressman and I hope to legislate effectively but that is all... hindi po ako nakikipag-usap para sa mga tao na humihingi ng appointment (I don't speak in behalf of people who or asking for appointments) or whatever that is to do with the executive," he said.

"That’s normal naman kapag ikaw ay anak ng pangulo ‘Pwede naman po pa-appint dito, pwede naman po pa-appoint dito,’ well wala po akong kinalaman dyan (That's normal when you're the son of the president, 'Can I please be appointed here,' well I don't have anything to do with that). That’s not what I do and I have always been solid with that," the younger Marcos stressed.
