Reelected Roxas City mayor urges unity for more progressive Capiz

ILOILO CITY – Reelected Mayor Ronnie Dadivas emphasized that unity is the key in bringing more progress to Roxas City, the capital of Capiz.

“We finally believed that a single vision of a united and unified Capiz is possible,” said Dadivas during his inaugural speech late last week.

In his second consecutive term as mayor, Dadivas acknowledged that there is again unity with the Capiz provincial government headed by Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro.

There was animosity when then provincial government was headed by Gov. Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras II. Dadivas in his first term hauled the provincial administrator of Contreras to court for cyber libel.

With a stronger alliance forged with the Capiz provincial government, Dadivas is optimistic that social and economic services will be improved.

It includes expanding the “Bugas para sa taga Roxas” (Rice for the people of Roxas) program, which gives sacks of rice to indigent families in the city, and more budget for financial assistance.

Dadivas also disclosed the plan to finish rehabilitation of the public market and decent housing for indigent families.

Another priority is creating and improving the parks and other recreational areas that can be used by residents as a place of relaxation.
