K-pop girl group Fromis 9 sells 138,000 copies of new album, tops weekly chart

K-pop girl group Fromis 9, Kim Hee-jae, TWICE’s Nayeon, BTOB’s Minhyuk and BTS topped the weekly physical album chart in South Korea.

Hanteo Chart, which tracks digital music and physical album sales, has released the weekly album chart covering the period June 27 to July 3.

Fromis 9 were supposed to hold a media showcase on June 27 to mark the release of their album “From Our Memento Box” but canceled it after five members were injured in a car accident.

Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Lee Seoyeon, Lee Chaeyoung and Baek Ji-heon got injured in a car accident on June 25.

“While the injury of the members and other passengers was not serious, the doctors advised that they should refrain from increasing the amount of activities for the next few days,” said Pledis Entertainment on June 26.

According to Hanteo Chart, Fromis 9’s “From Our Memento Box” sold 138,170 copies from June 27 to July 3 and took first place on the weekly album chart. The total is also Fromis 9’s first-week sales.

Trot singer Kim Hee-jae grabbed second place with his album “Hee-jae” selling 130,777 copies in one week.

TWICE’s Nayeon, who made history on the Billboard 200 chart, is in third place with her album “Im Nayeon” selling 97,169 copies.

K-pop boy band BTOB’s Lee Minhyuk’s “Boom” took fourth place with 44,487 copies sold followed by BTS’ “Love Yourself: Her,” which garnered 16,141 copies in sales.
