The southwest monsoon and easterlies may bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms over some parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said the southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat,” may affect Batanes and Cagayan, while the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, may affect Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.

Those in these areas were warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to “moderate to at times heavy rains.”

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, the northern and western sections of Luzon may experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
