Cloudy skies, scattered rain showers to prevail over most of PH due to ITCZ

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a region where winds coming from the northeast and southeast hemispheres converge that triggers thunderstorms and rain showers, may affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday afternoon, July 4.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Marinduque, Romblon, Bicol Region, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Visayas.

PAGASA advised those in these areas to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides caused by “moderate to at times heavy rains.”

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, the entire archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
