PH Red Cross intensifies assistance to earthquake-hit communities in Abra
In response to a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck Abra on July 27 which resulted in damage to properties, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said that it has intensified its assistance to the distressed people in communities.

The PRC sent food items to 24 families in Suyo, Pidigan, 120 families in Zone 2, San Quintin, and 50 families to Ap-Ayapa, Villaviciosa on July 30.
The humanitarian also said that 265 hot meals were served in Barangay Suyo, Pidigan town and Barangays Lipcan and Sinalang in Bangued, and 1,064 liters of water were distirubuted to 48 families in Calaba, Bangued.
Moreover, the PRC First Aid and Welfare Station also provided health services to 14 individuals.
"Laging handa ang Red Cross sa ganitong panahon. Tinitiyak natin na lahat ng naapektuhang komunidad sa probinsya ng Abra ay mararating at matutulungan (Red Cross is always prepared for this kind of situation. We are making sure to reach and help all the affected communities in the province of Abra)," PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Richard Gordon assured.
The PRC stated that it has coordinated with the local government units of Peñarubia and Bucay to conduct a rapid disaster assessment and needs analysis.
As of July 31, the PRC has deployed five food trucks, three water tankers, a wing van with hygiene kits, sleeping kits, jerry cans, and a 6x6 truck.
