Man arrested for assaulting cop with knife at Pangasinan checkpoint
ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan – A 28-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a policeman conducting a checkpoint in Barangay Alos here Saturday, July 30.
Police Staff Sgt. Richard Maure and other policemen were conducting checkpoint at around 6:50 p.m. when they flagged down a black motorcycle for inspection.
Maure politely approached the suspect, John Robert Mirador, of Barangay Doliman, Infanta, this province.
However, Mirador drew a knife from his waist and alighted from his motorcycle.
He confronted checkpoint personnel and then chased Maure with the knife in hand.
Maure ran and after having enough distance, he drew his service firearm and warned the suspect to calm down.
Mirador stopped and dropped his knife to the ground. He was arrested and taken first to the hospital before the local police station for proper disposition.
