The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the election results and data, are safe, secure, intact and unaffected.

The poll body said this following the fire incident at their main office in Intramuros, Manila, Sunday, July 31.

The Comelec said such data remains to be on live posting, both at their official website (www.comelec.gov.ph) and the Election Results Website (www.2022electionresults.comelec.gov.ph).

"Back-up of such is intact and safe as well, kept as well at our secured vault," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in a statement.

Similarly, he said, voter’s registration data are safe, secure, intact and unaffected at another secured vault, with the back-up at a secured off-site location dedicated for the purpose.

Laudiangco explained that the fire was limited to the reception area of their Information Technology Department with limited damage to property and equipment.

He added that other departments and offices located at the 7th Floor, as well as in all other floors, were safe from the fire damage.

As to the Comelec Servers and Vaults, located at the ITD, Laudiangco said, these are safe, intact, undamaged and secure including all equipment and documents in all offices and departments at their Main Office.

"Given the limited area directly affected by the fire, other digital and physical files, administrative, operational or judicial are all safe, secure, intact and unaffected," he said.

While the Bureau of Fire Protection is conducting their investigation, Laudiangco said all offices and departments of the Comelec situated at the Palacio del Gobernador shall be on work-from-home status on August 1, 2022, with their respective skeleton-work-force being on duty "to conduct inventory, assessment and continue with other administrative and operational functions."

"We shall be fully cooperating with the BFP and and the Palacio del Gobernador Building Administration to determine the cause of the fire, and ensure further safety of all Comelec offices," he said.
