DICT continues to empower youth through digital literacy
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) launched a digital literacy training for the Aeta community in Porac, Pampanga.

The five-day community-based training benefitted a total of 35 indigenous youth of Barangay Inararo in Porac, Pampanga according to DICT.
“ seeks to provide a basic course on computer and internet essentials, computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting, document processing, electronic spreadsheet, as well as multimedia presentation,” said DICT in a Facebook post.
In order to ensure the provision of “hands-on learning” experience, the department brought essential equipment for the trainees to use and practice on.
Meanwhile, DICT believes that conquering the gap of the so-called “digital divide” would enable the indigenous people to be proficient in the use of technology.
“It is essential that these can also be received, understood, and used by indigenous youth,” it furthered.
The five-day digital literacy training was held from July 18, 2022 until July 22, 2022, said DICT.
