PH Red Cross receives P15 million donation from BSP to boost Covid-19 response
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) received a P15 million donation from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to strengthen its Covid-19 response operations and other services.

"The pandemic has shown us that public health is at the core of a resilient society. It teaches us that public health is important to the economy," said BSP Governor Felipe Medalla in the turnover ceremony held at the BSP Complex in Manila on July 27.
The donation is a part of the humanitarian organization's partnership with BSP even before the pandemic began on 2020.
BSP was among the first to donate to PRC’s Covid-19 response and has also supported PRC’s ambulance services for Covid patients, shared PRC.
Medalla also thanked the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP), Philippine Heart Center (PHC), and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) for bringing BSP "closer to the people."
These government medical facilities, which were represented in the event, are also being supported by BSP.

According to PRC, it has intensified its Covid-19 response by deploying new negative pressure ambulance units, adding more "Bakuna" buses, and maintaining its swab and saliva sample collection sites and molecular laboratories.
PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon shared in his speech that PRC has now tested more than 5.6 million swab and saliva samples for Covid-19 using RT-PCR and has administered more than 1.2 million doses of vaccines.
A total of 5,000 patients were also taken care of at isolation facilities set up by the PRC in collaboration with the local government units in Metro Manila, Gordon added.
He also mentioned that PRC sent medical tents to ease the Covid-19 bed capacity at NKTI, LCP, and 62 other hospitals at the height of the pandemic as well as its partnership with PGH and PHC when it comes to providing ambulance and blood services assistance.
