Homegrown artist featured in Revisitamos Dapitan 1892 art exhibit

CEBU CITY – The city of Dapitan showcased one of its own when it held a series of cultural events during the Revisitamos Dapitan 1892.

One of the highlights of the series of heritage events was the art exhibit of Dapitan-native Dr. Adeline Felipa Eguia Sagario, whose artworks were showcased during the “Colors of Adeline Art Exhibit.”

Held last July 23 at the Travel Bee Heritage Hotel in Dapitan, Sagario’s exhibit was attended by former Cultural Center of the Philippines art director Chris Millado, Dapitan Mayor Seth Jalosjos, and the city’s Tourism Officer Apple Marie Agolong.

A mini-concert featuring topnotch musicians spiced up Sagario’s art exhbit.

Maestro conductor tenor Dennis Gregory Sugar, pianists John Manatad and Miracle Romano, and violinist Misha Romano performed during the mini-concert.

“All are gifted musicians and National Music Competition for Young Artists winners, garnering awards in national and international competitions and giving pride to the Philippines,” said Sagario.

Sagario worked in the United States and returned to the country to take care of her parents.

Upon returning home, Sagario devoted more time for painting and has already conducted art exhibits in Cebu.

A separate art exhibit was also held at the Aniano Adasa Heritage House. Dubbed as “Nocturne in R,” the exhibit featured the artworks of Roland Acaylar.

The exhibit also showcased the Aniano Adasa Heritage House, which also houses the city’s Tourism Office.

Built in 1900, the building is a symbol of American architecture with a touch of Spanish structural lattice artwork.

The sliding windows adhere to Japanese style. The city's richness in cultural heritage is greatly and elaborately displayed in this house.

Revisitamos Dapitan 1892 was a two-week celebration of the 130th anniversary of national hero Jose Rizal’s arrival in the city.
