Voters urged to register early for BSKE

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has asked those qualified to register for the Dec 5, 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls to already do so and not wait for the last days of registration.

"We encourage and invite our qualified youth as well as our qualified compatriots who are not yet voters to participate in the upcoming Dec 5, 2022 BSKE, by registering from July 4 to July 23, 2022, Monday through Saturday, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in a statement Sunday, July 3.

"Because the registration period is short for the Comelec to comply with the election laws and rules, we ask that you do not wait for the last days of registration to ensure registration," he added.

To avoid inconvenience, Laudiangco asked voter applicants to prepare and fill in the application forms correctly and prepare the proofs of identity before they go to the local offices.

"Whenever possible, bring your own ballpen and alcohol. Application forms are distributed free of charge at our offices, or download and print from our website, www.comelec.gov.ph," he said.

"Keep wearing a face mask, hand washing or sanitizing, and ensure proper physical distancing and proper queuing," Laudiangco added.

The poll official also asked those experiencing symptoms related to Covid 19 to postpone their visit to the local Comelec office "until your doctor or authority gives you permission."
