P272 M worth of shabu seized in QC buy-bust

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized some P272 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust in Quezon City on Sunday, July 3.

PDEA Director General Wikins Villanueva said the operation also resulted in the arrest of a suspected big-time Chinese drug trafficker identified as 33-year old Jia Zhu.

Zhu was arrested at around 10:30 a.m. along Maria Clara St. Barangay Lourdes near the Philippine Orthopedic Hospital.

Aside from the more or less 40 kilos of shabu, initial reports revealed that a blue green Toyota Corolla, driver’s license, one cellular phone and genuine P1,000 bill with serial no. JZ489336 were confiscated from the suspect.

Zhu faces charges for violation of Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise.

The operation was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement agency (PDEA), local police and other law enforcement agencies. (Chito A. Chavez)
