Over 1,300 fresh Covid-19 cases recorded—DOH

An additional 1,323 new Covid-19 cases were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, July 3.

The new cases brought the number of active cases nationwide to 9,703, as shown in the DOH Covid-19 tracker website. The Philippines has been recording more than 1,000 cases daily since June 30.

The region that recorded the highest number of new infections in the past two weeks was Metro Manila with 5,520. It was followed by Calabarzon with 2,107 cases, Western Visayas with 958, Central Luzon with 767, and Central Visayas with 548.

With this development, the country's running caseload increased to 3,708,271, including 3,637,976 recoveries and 60,529 deaths.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has yet to name the next chief of the state health agency.

The DOH assured the public that the protocols against the Covid-19 pandemic are still being implemented continuously.

“Our current pandemic response protocols continue to be implemented. Everything is status quo until new directives from our new President come in,” the DOH said.

“The country’s Covid-19 response actions, along with actions for all other non-Covid health matters, continue through senior DOH officials supervising specific bureaus, offices and units. We await and are ready for the announcement of the next Secretary of Health,” it added.
