Jordan Heading takes act to Japan after stellar Taiwan stint

Former Gilas Pilipinas member Jordan Heading is bringing his talent to Japan after signing with B.League Division II team Nagasaki Velca, the team announced Friday, July 1.

“I'm really happy that me and my family can be part of the Velca family. I'm grateful to the management for believing in me and giving me this opportunity,” said Heading.

“I'll do my best to overcome it! I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates and Velca fans!,” he added.

The Fil-Aussie shooting guard was coming off a stellar season with Taichung Suns of Taiwan’s T1 League where he helped his team reach the finals while averaging 19.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in the regular season.

Heading and the Suns however got swept by fellow Filipino Jason Brickmann and his Kaohsiung Aquas in the best-of-three finale.

With the move, Heading became the latest Filipino to move to Japan, joining the likes of Kobe Paras, Dwight Ramos and Thirdy Ravena. Paras and Heading will be in fact facing each other in the Division II with the former also signing for a newly promoted team Altiri Chiba last month.

Heading, for his part, will try to help Nagasaki to earn another promotion after topping the third division last season
