'Habagat' rains prevail over Ilocos Norte, Batanes, Babuyan Islands

The southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat,” may continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the western section of northern Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, July 3.

PAGASA advised those in Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over the rest of the country.

PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, the northern and western sections of Luzon may experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
