Cops arrest 66 drug suspects in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY – Police arrested 66 drug suspects across Western Visayas (Region 6) in the last week of June.

Data from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office had the most number of arrests with 30, followed by the Bacolod City Police Office with 16; Iloilo City Police Office, seven; Iloilo Police Provincial Office, six; Capiz Police Provincial Office, three; PRO-6 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, two; and Aklan Police Provincial Office and Guimaras Police Provincial Office, one each.

At least P1.75-million worth of suspected shabu was seized while an estimated of P240,000 worth of marijuana was recovered from the suspects.

“We will intensify our fight against illegal drugs by pursuing persons involved in the illegal trade and make them answer on the offense they've committed. Your police in the region will continue to closely working with the concerned agencies to prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs," said Police Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo, PRO-6 director.
