BACOLOD CITY - A wanted person believed to be connected with the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested at Purok 6, Maote, Barangay Bulwangan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental on Thursday, July 28.
Joint personnel the police and the Philippine Army served an arrest warrant for attempted murder against Adrian Omilig, with aliases ‘Tortor/Niko,’ 23, of Barangay Bulwangan.
Omilig is the alleged leader of squad 2, Sentro de Gravidad Platoon of South West Front that operates in Southern Negros, according to a report from Police Regional Office-Western Visayas.
The arrest warrant was issued by Presiding Judge Rodney Magbanua of Regional Trial Court - Branch 61 in Kabankalan City on Feb. 28, 2022.
The court had set a bail of P120,000 for his provisional liberty.
In April 2021, Omilig was allegedly involved in a clash at Sitio Yuring, Barangay Bulwangan, and was also linked to another encounter in Candoni town in July 2021.
He was detained but was later released on probation until his arrest warrant came out this year.
Meanwhile, Police Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo, PRO-Western Visayas director, commended the operatives for the successful arrest of Omilig.
“This speaks of your commitment in bringing law violators to answer on the offenses they’ve committed,” Dongbo said in a statement.
