SITG created to probe death of Masbate cop in alleged hazing incident


CAMP OLA, Legazpi City, Albay – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-5 has a created Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to probe the death of Patrolman Jaypee de Guzman Ramores, 32, assigned to 503rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Batallion (RMFB) in San Jacinto, Masbate, in an alleged hazing incident.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said that SITG Ramores was created to investigate if there were irregularities and loopholes in the death of Ramores.

Calubaquib said that Ramores was earlier reported to have died due to cardiac arrest while jogging in San Jacinto Tuesday, July 26.

“’Yung mga pictures kasi kaduda-duda. So we created the SITG para mag imbestiga sa kaso kung hazing o kung inatake talaga (Pictures of Ramores are suspicious. We created the SITG to find out if he really died from hazing or heart attack)," she said.

The PNP-Bicol has secured consent from the family of Ramores to autopsy his cadaver. "We are just waiting for the result of the autopsy. So far, pictures speak for itself," Calubaquib said.

Twenty police personnel allegedly involved in the hazing incident have been relieved from their posts and now under the custody of the RMFB 5 here.

"Twenty persons sila, lahat PNP personnel (There are 20 persons, all PNP personnel), and they are isolated inside the camp while the investigation is ongoing. They are also required to make their affidavits regarding the incident," Calubaquib said. "Sa ngayon, inaalam pa kung may probable cause ‘yung kaso and once meron, the PNP file administrative and criminal charges sa mga involved persons (Right now, probable cause is being determined and once there is case, the PNP will file administrative and criminal charges against those involved) ," she added.

Calubaquib also said that the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) and Masbate Police Provincial Office (PPO) are conducting separate investigation at the 503rd Manuever Company to determine their criminal and administrative liabilities.

"May nag-occular na sa kampo nila sa Masbate and subject for questioning din ‘yung mga households na nakapalibot. Under questioning pa sila, ‘yung mga hindi makikipag-cooperate kakasohan din (An inspection has been conducted inside their camp in Masbate and households around the camp have been questioned. Those who are not cooperating will be charged)," she said.
