PNP saves Chinese kidnap victim thru GPS from abductors' car

A Chinese man was rescued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) from his abductors in Porac, Pampanga on Thursday night, July 28.

Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., PNP officer-in-charge, said nine suspects were arrested in the operation including seven Chinese and two Filipinos.

They were identified as Wang Zhen Yu, He Lei, Guo Xiao Qiang, Shi Nan, Xu He Feng, He Hao, Huang Bing Zhou, Leoger Buenaventura, and Warren Estera.

According to PNP, the victim – whose name was not revealed to protect his identity – was abducted by 10 male Chinese nationals in Angeles City on July 22. The suspects used three vehicles, including at least one rented car, to transport the kidnap victim from Angeles City to Porac.

The victim was then reportedly mauled by the suspects, said Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, PNP spokesperson.

However, the victim managed to use a cellular phone which he sneaked in to contact his live-in partner. The victim divulged his location which prompted his live-in partner to seek assistance from the Central Luzon Police Regional Office (PRO-3).

“Operatives were quick to respond and initially located one of the vehicles used by the suspects during the abduction,” Alba said.

“The owner of the rented vehicle gave the location of the car through its installed GPS ,” he added.

The cops arrested seven of the 10 Chinese kidnappers as well as the two Filipinos who allegedly took turns in guarding the victim in a rescue operation that was conducted at 9:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, a follow up operation was ongoing to hunt down the three other suspects who remain at large.

Danao said the PNP will coordinate with its Chinese counterparts to process and document the Chinese kidnappers, and relay assistance to the victim.
