P111.6M worth of marijuana plants in six Kalinga plantations destroyed

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Joint personnel of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera and Naval Forces Northern Luzon destroyed marijuana plants in six plantation sites with a combined worth of P111.6 million in a four-day operation in the town of Tinglayan, Kalinga.

The operatives separately raided the three marijuana plantation sites in Barangay Tulgao West and the other three plantations in Barangay Loccong and uprooted 558,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants that have a Standard Drug Price of P111, 600,000.

In a 12,000 square meter plantation in Mt. Bittulayungan in Barangay Loccong, the raiders uprooted 135 fully grown marijuana plants worth P24,000,000.

In three other plantations in Sitio Balay, Barangay Tulgao West, a total of 438,000 FGMPs planted in a 43,800 sqm. lot with a value of P87,600,000 were uprooted.

According to Col. Peter Tagtag, Jr., provincial director of Kalinga Provincial Office, in the morning of July 27 the operatives even felt the earthquake when they burned the marijuana plants.

The police only left the area when they were sure that all the marijuana plants were burned into ashes.
