Lightning strikes house in Quezon, kills father, daughter while having dinner

CATANAUAN, Quezon -- A father and his daughter died after lightning struck their house while having dinner at Barangay Tagbacan Ilaya, this town, police reported on Friday.

P/SSgt Michael Adao, Catanauan Philippine National Police investigator, identified the fatalities as Jomar Funtilar and his daughter Jona.

The incident happened on Thursday, July 28, at around 5:58 in the evening, but it was reported to the police station on Friday.

The victims were having their dinner when lightning hit the corner portion of the house. The victims' house is made of light materials.

Village councilor Miguelito Rocero, through his post on his Facebook page, is asking for help for the bereaved family of the victims to defray the burial expenses and other financial needs.
