Around 5,000 informal settler families (ISFs) in Valenzuela City now have homes in the fully furnished Disiplina Village in Barangay Bignay, the local government announced Thursday, July 28.

Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian, Congressman Rex Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, the city council, and the beneficiaries of the program attended the housing project's closing ceremony at the WES Covered Court in the village.
Atty. Maria Magdalena de Leon-Siacon and Engr. Jovita G. Panopio from the National Housing Authority (NHA) also graced the event.
The beneficiaries are ISFs who used to live in the city's danger zones, nearby waterways, or were displaced by property demolitions.
The project finished its fifth and final phase.
After 60 days, the ISF beneficiaries would have been successfully relocated to their new homes, aided by the local government.

The Disiplina Village, a benchmark project of the city, is the largest in-city resettlement site in the country, according to the NHA.
Disiplina Village Bignay has a total land area of 111,293 square meters. It houses 104 low-rise buildings.
The three-storey buildings house around 3,702 units. These units have a floor area per unit of 27 square meters.
The units each have their own toilet and bathroom services.
Power connections through the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and water connections through Maynilad have been installed per building.
As a subsidized housing program, each family only pays rent worth P300 per month.
"Ang mga ganitong araw ay simbolo po na hindi lang units ang tini-turn over namin sa inyo kundi tini-turn over natin ang magandang buhay at pangarap sa bawat Valenzuelano at bawat pamilya (These occasions symbolize that we do not only turn over units, but also turn over better lives and brighter hopes for each Valenzuelano and each family)," said Mayor Gatchalian.
Gatchalian said his first "mission" in his term will pursue constructing more Disiplina Villages in other barangays in the city.
They will also allocate the appropriate funds to implement and develop more housing projects.
Prior to the full completion, there had already been 3,310 families who occupied the units in the village, admitted intermittently as the construction progressed.
