Gabriela solon to push for higher disaster subsidy in 2023 budget


Gabriela Women’s Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas has promised to push for increased financial subsidies for victims of natural disasters in the 2023 annual budget.

“In the upcoming budget deliberations, we will definitely push for more budget for financial subsidy for victims of natural calamities, as well as the immediate passage of House Bill 409 or 10K Ayuda bill,” Brosas said during a Makabayan bloc press conference on Friday, July 29.

This, after a magnitude 7.0 earthquake rocked Northern Luzon last Wednesday, July 27.

“Maghahain din tayo ng panukalang batas hinggil sa mandatory disaster preparedness training, sa halip na ROTC ang gawing mandatory (We will also push for a law establishing a mandatory disaster preparedness training program instead of Mandatory ROTC),” she continued.

The women’s rights advocate also called for the expeditious release of financial aid to the recent earthquake victims from disaster and housing focused government agencies.

“We are calling to fast-track the release of NDRRMP fund, as well as the Quick Response Fund to cover financial aid for local communities. We also call on the NHA to implement a Special Emergency Housing Assistance Program to provide financial aid to each beneficiary-family to augment in rebuilding their houses,” Brosas declared.
