Four missing persons at height of magnitude-7 earthquake found buried in landslide in Abra
BANGUED, Abra – Four people who were reported missing during the height of the magnitude-7 earthquake in the town of Luba, Abra, were found buried in a landslide area in Sitio Bangel, Barangay Poblacion Luba, Abra at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29.

The discovery of the four brought to nine the total number of dead in the Cordillera as a result of the magnitude-7 earthquake. These include five in Abra, two in Benguet and one each in Kalinga and Bangued.
The Luba Municipal Police Station identified the victims as Mar B. Barreyro, 38, foreman, and a resident of Sitio Pacpaca, Barangay Ampalioc, Luba, Abra; Louie B. Dining, 21, construction worker, resident of Sitio Madago, Barangay San Ramon East, Manabo, Abra; Jack B. Gamengan, 17, construction worker, resident of Sitio Madago, Barangay San Ramon East, Manabo, Abra and Angelo A. Badi, 15, of Sitio Madago, Barangay San Ramon East, Manabo, Abra.
According to the police, at 8:00 p.m. on July 27, Mar Barreyro's wife, Ruby Jane R. Barreyro, reported that her husband and three of his companions were missing after the strong earthquake that morning.
Barreyro and his companions left their house around 7:30 a.m. on July 27, rode on a tricycle and headed to the construction site in Sitio Bangel, Barangay Poblacion Luba, Abra.
As for Ruby, she expected her husband to come home when the earthquake occurred at 7:30 p.m. He always did, but he could no longer be contacted by cellphone.
The missing four victims were reported to the Abra Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, so they also prioritized the search for them.
Through the investigation by the police, the rescue groups decided to dig up a landslide that occurred in the area and found the victim's remains with the help of the police's K9 sniffing dog.
