DepEd all set for 1st virtual National Qualifying Examination for School Heads
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Friday, July 29, said it is now ready to conduct the first full remote National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH) on July 31, 2022.

This is for aspiring school heads and passing the said exam is one of the requirements for the “appointment and classification” for the positions of Principal and Assistant Principals in public elementary schools as well as secondary schools.
This year, for the first time ever, the qualifying exam will be held completely virtual to ensure the safety and wellbeing of DepEd personnel amid the lingering threat of Covid-19.
“NQESH will help ensure that DepEd appoints school heads who possess the knowledge and competencies expected in the Career Stage of the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH) and who can competently support teachers in their profession,” said Research Center for Teacher Quality (RCTQ) Director Gina Gonong.
Meanwhile, apart from making it completely virtual, the test items for this year’s qualifying exams were “aligned” with the standards set out in DepEd’s Memorandum 24.
DepEd likewise confirmed that these were also developed and validated through the department’s partnership with Philippine Normal University RCTQ together with the assistance of SiMMER National Research Centre of the University of New England.
